Own goal preserves Broch’s 100% record

FRASERBURGH 1

BRECHIN CITY 0

Fraserburgh handed Brechin City their first Highland League defeat and, in the process, became the only team to maintain a 100% record with five games played.

The critical moment of the game arrived in the 32nd minute. Broch’s Scott Barbour whipped in a left-footed delivery which forced Michael Paton to try to get something on it, but the ex-player-manager was only able to turn it into his own net.

Brechin now host Formartine in midweek looking to end a run of three games without a win.

FORMARTINE 4 NAIRN 1

Two goals in little over a minute gave Formartine the foundation for a solid win over Nairn County, moving themselves up to third place in the process.

Jordan Lynch and Scott Lisle provided the one-two and, when Cole Anderson added a third just before the half-hour mark, the only question mark appeared to be over margin of the victory.

Max Ewan pulled one back for Ronnie Sharp’s men, but that drew an immediate response as Johnny Smith restored United’s three-goal dominance.

STRATHSPEY THISTLE 3 LOSSIEMOUTH 1

The Grantown Jags leapt above Lossiemouth and into 10th with a comfortable victory.

Jake Thomson put them in front with a well-taken opener before Craig Mackenzie opened up a two-goal cushion before the break.

The points were in the bag when Mackenzie netted his second with 15 minutes to go, rendering Ross Elliot’s 82nd-minute counter simply a consolation for the Coasters.

FORT WILLIAM 0 BRORA RANGERS 8

Brora got back on track by battering Fort William in a match played at Dudgeon Park.

Tom Kelly had them two goals to the good before Dale Gillespie drilled home a free-kick.

Josh Meekings netted his first for the Cattachs to round off a fine first half.

Matthew Wright also notched his first for the club before Gregor Macdonald quickly took the score to seven with two impressive strikes.

Gillespie rounded off the rout with another shot from just outside the box.

HUNTLY 1 KEITH 1

Huntly missed out on the chance to climb into second place as they were pegged back late on in this derby clash.

The home team looked set for victory when Greg Buchan floated a free-kick in for Michael Clark to power home a header.

Despite being well on top in the first period, they failed to add a second and Keith grew in confidence.

“Chamak” Nawrocki came off the bench to provide a calm finish

to end the Maroons SHFL goal drought.

ROTHES 2 BUCKIE TH 0

Summer signing Gregg Morrison headed Rothes in front from a well-worked corner routine in the 13th minute.

Eight minutes later, they added a second from the penalty spot. Ross Gunn was brought down by Kevin Main and Allan Pollock placed his penalty into the postage-stamp corner.

Ross Jack’s side closed the game down brilliantly in the second half, with Jack Murray’s red card and indication of the visitor’s growing frustration with a comeback never looking on the cards.

FORRES MECHANICS 2 CLACHNACUDDIN 2

Ten-man Clachnacuddin came from two goals down to grab a share of the spoils at Mosset Park.

Lee Fraser diverted an Owen Paterson cross home for the opener and, when Paul Brindle knocked in a second with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock, it looked set to be the Can Cans day.

Lewis Nicholson was sent off, but somehow the Lillies rallied.

James Anderson’s 85th-minute penalty gave them hope and Liam Taylor forced home a 90th-minute equaliser.

Paterson then saw red in time added to make it 10-a-side.

INVERURIE LOCOS 3 DEVERONVALE 0

Having been the stronger team early on, Nathan Meres put the Locos in front when he pounced on a mix-up in the Vale defence to tap the ball home.

The former Huntly winger quickly added a second, netting from a Robert Ward flick-on.

Locos were awarded a penalty just after the restart for a handball. Kieran Shanks converted, a task Dane Ballard failed to match two minutes from time as he saw Andy Reid save his spot-kick.

WICK AC 1 TURRIFF UTD 1

Turriff picked up their first point of the season, while the Scorries made it four draws in five games.

Wick looked the likelier throughout the first half and made the breakthrough three minutes before the break when Ross Allan picked up the ball on the left corner of the 18-yard box and drove forward to strike the ball past Tim Findlay.

Dean Donaldson rolled the dice with a double change at half-time

and his luck was in as one of those introduced, Matthew Macdonald, beat Graeme Williamson to restore parity.
