Discover the delights of Dundee
Dundee was excited to welcome the V&A design museum in 2018 and it’s well worth a stop during a visit – but it’s not the only thing to see or do in this riverside city.
Right next door to the V&A you’ll find Discovery Point, home to the famous RSS Discovery, while at the city quay you’ll find water sports and the nearly 200-yearsold HMS Unicorn (one of the six oldest ships in the world).
Enjoy a spot of shopping and some lunch along Perth Road, soak up some more culture at the striking Mcmanus Art Gallery and Museum in the centre or work up a sweat walking up Dundee Law, which offers stunning views across the whole city.
Escape city life in quaint towns
Take a breather from the hustle and bustle of cities –without sacrificing your creature comforts – in Fife.
St Andrews is a popular tourist attraction so it’s not the quietest, but with world famous golf courses, luxurious hotels, independent shops and plenty of bars and restaurants, it’s a wonderful town to enjoy a relaxed wander in.
You can also get a taste of quieter, rural life at the picture-perfect villages and towns of East Neuk.
With quaint harbours, cobbled streets and charming cottages, many of these towns provide an idyllic resting spot after a scenic drive or busy day exploring the East Coast’s many attractions. Check out Pittenweem (with its active fishing port) which has a vibrant arts scene and the annual Pittenweem Festival every year (this year’s was cancelled). Then consider the crescent shaped bay of Elie, the oft-photographed harbour of Crail or the likes of St Monans, Anstruther or Cellardyke as you explore the east coast.
