Wick share issue continues

-

ROTHES 1 WICK ACADEMY 1

The draw specialists from Wick Academy did it again, sharing the points for the sixth time in eight games.

It was Rothes who began to take control of the game, and Ross Gunn found the net in the midst of a spell that saw both Fraser Robertson and Allan Pollock go close.

The second half saw Wick begin to threaten.

Ryan Campbell and Gordon Macnab both tried their luck from distance before the latter found a route past Sean Mccarthy from close range in the 66th minute to tie the game up.

INVERURIE LOCOS 3 FORMARTINE UNITED 1

Inverurie Locos defeated their former Junior foes to move up to third place in the Highland League table.

They were in front after just 13 minutes when Greig Mitchell fired in a left-footer.

An impudent backheel from Keiran Shanks in the build-up made Robert Ward’s lofted finish all the sweeter for the home support.

Formartine halved the deficit just four minutes into the second half when Jonny Crawford rose to head home.

Shanks provided the Locos with the breathing space to comfortably see out the final quarter-of-an-hour, netting the third from the penalty-spot.

KEITH 0 CLACHNACUDDIN 3

Clach passed up two gilt-edged chances in the first 30 seconds, but Keith settled into the game and it remained goalless at the break.

The match turned in Clach’s favour when Dem Yunus was harshly shown two yellow cards in a matter of minutes early in the second half. Within a minute, the visitors were in front, defender Eachiann Miller coming forward to net from the resulting free-kick.

The visitors made the extra man tell with James Anderson managing to find space in the box twice.

He clinically drilled a low shot in at the near post, having been fed in through the inside-right channel halfway through the second half.

He then claimed his ninth goal in eight games in the final minute when he controlled a cross from the left and lashed it high into the net.

NAIRN COUNTY 2 FORRES MECHANICS 2

Nairn passed up the chance to claim an important three points against an ill-tempered Forres team that ended the game with nine men.

County looked on course for a win at the break, with Connor Gethins having put them in front just minutes before Ross Macpherson was dismissed for a headbutt.

However, goals from Robbie Duncanson and Allan Macphee saw the 10 men turn the game on it’s head in the opening 15 minutes of the second period.

Callum Maclean managed to drag the home side level again, but, despite Craig Dorrat also seeing red, there was to be no late winner for Ronnie Sharp’s men.

TURRIFF UNITED 0 LOSSIEMOUTH 2

Lossiemouth were totally in control of the first half of this game, going ahead in 15 minutes when Ross Elliott was sent through the inside-left channel and drilled the ball confidently past David Dey.

A Liam Archibald header came off the crossbar, with home captain James Chalmers clearing off the line in the aftermath.

The Coasters deservedly went further ahead two minutes from the break. Dey did well to keep out a header after a cross from the right, but Dean Stewart followed through to force the ball home from close range.

The second half was a different story. Logan Ross made a great save from Owen Kinsella, while Murray Thompson and Dylan Stuart also went close.

The home domination counted for nothing with the visitors defending well and holding out for the three points.
