We didn’t want to leave our daughter with any kind of stress

The process of writing a Will or applying for a Power of Attorney can be emotional, particularly if it’s the result of mental or physical illness.

For families to feel total peace of mind, however, doing so is essential.

Mr and Mrs Ford of Glasgow recently went through the process with ILAWS as a way of making life simpler for their daughter.

“My husband is bad with arthritis,” said Mrs Ford, 65, “And with my memory going, we didn’t want to leave our daughter with any kind of stress.

“If anything happens to us, she won’t have any trouble arranging things and it won’t be difficult for her to [receive] any money that has been left to her.

“If we take really very ill or if one of us isn’t completely in sound mind, she’ll be able to help.”

After a period like Covid, many families felt compelled to prepare themselves for future uncertainties.that’s why the Fords, who are now both retired, got in touch with ILAWS.

Mr Ford, 73, explained:“we saw their advert in the Sunday paper and got in touch. Because of Covid, it was hard for us to go to the office, so ILAWS came to us at no extra cost.”

“They are very helpful and explain everything more clearly than anyone we have dealt with before,” added Mrs Ford.“of course, we did have a wee while to wait to get everything verified because of Covid. But we were able to visit their office and get everything signed.”

As the writing of a Will and granting Power of Attorney are legal proceedings, the process can sometimes be confusing. But ILAWS is there for its clients from start to finish, and is constantly reachable.

Mr Ford said:“i wouldn’t say there is anything they could improve on. I phoned a few times with questions and they were always helpful and got back to me straight away.”

“They’ve treated us very well and we’ve paid for our funerals through them too,” Mrs Ford added.“all I want is to make life easier for my daughter and ILAWS has helped us to do that.”
