Wright can do no wrong with Brora brace

-

BRORA RANGERS 2 BUCKIE THISTLE 0

Having recovered from a shaky start to the season, Brora Rangers welcomed a Buckie side that had set the early pace.

The Cattachs took the lead when Ross County loanee Matthew Wright added another to his tally, catching the visitors cold in the opening minute of the game.

The match was relatively well balanced after that until, just after the hour, Wright added a second to give the home defence something to hold on to.

They did just that to move back to within one point of the Jags

with a game in hand.

CLACHNACUDDIN 2 DEVERONVALE 3

Scott Morrison gave Clach an early opener, but it was a penalty save from Martin Mackintosh that ensured they remained one up at the break.

The Vale have been a secondhalf team this term and, despite seeing Connor Bunce put Clach in front for a second time, they battled on with Dane Ballard and Kevin Adams adding to Michael Watson’s initial strike to give Craig

Stewart’s men the win.

FORMARTINE 5 HUNTLY 1

Andrew Greig crossed for Graeme Rodger to tap home Formartine’s first, then Jonny Crawford slammed home a second from 25 yards.

Johnny Smith was at the back post to convert another cross for a third goal just after the half-hour.

In the second period, Andrew Greig returned Euan Storrier’s punch with interest to add a fourth and a slick passing move resulted in Smith netting his second of the afternoon.

Caiden Imbert-thomas netted a consolation for Huntly from Reece Mckeown’s cross.

FORRES 1 TURRIFF 1

Forres assistant manager Nathan Sharp was counting the cost of losing late goals in the press this

week and he will have been left scratching his head when Murray Thompson was allowed to batter Turriff ahead in first-half injurytime.

Ironically, to balance that, the Can Cans snatched a leveller in second-half injury-time. Lee Fraser forced the ball across the face of goal and Stuart Soane slid

it into the net.

FORT WILLIAM 3 INVERURIE LOCOS 10

Things are beginning to look ominous for the Fort, who suffered another heavy defeat at Harlaw Park.

The writing was on the wall when Kieran Shanks netted in the second minute.

Calum Dingwall struck a wonderful free-kick before Gary Mcgowan helped himself to a brace. Marios Avraam provided Fort with a moment of joy, but the Locos instantly responded through Shanks.

Ross Still made it No. 6 a minute into the second half and was soon nodding home a seventh, then poking home to complete his hat-trick.

Mark Souter headed in before Darren Brew fired a second for Fort into the top corner.

Robbie Foster and Matthew Petermann traded scores to complete the goalfest.

LOSSIEMOUTH 2 KEITH 0

Keith conceded within 100 seconds as Dean Stewart got the Coasters got off to the perfect start.

Ross Morrison thumped a second past Craig Reid in the 64th minute after good work by Ryan Stuart created the chance.

Lossie held on to a clean sheet to ensure they moved above the Maroons, who slip back into the

bottom six.

STRATHSPEY 1 ROTHES 4

Ross Gunn gave visitors Rothes an early advantage.

When Shane Harkness provided a two-goal cushion, it seemed unlikely the points were going anywhere other than down the river.

The Jags did pull one back through James Mcshane, but a Craig Cormack double ensured the points.

NAIRN 1 BRECHIN CITY 3

Dylan Maclean may have had Maksym Kucherlavyi’s shot

covered, but a deflection took it away from the keeper and gave Brechin a 19th-minute lead.

Murray Mackintosh increased the advantage from Marc Scott’s cross before the break.

Hamish Thomson saw red in the opening minutes of the second half and, when Ciaran Young headed home his first goal for Nairn with eight minutes left, the home side were hoping of a comeback.

Julian Wade had other ideas and clinched the win for City.

WICK 2 FRASERBURGH 5

Three goals in just over four firsthalf minutes ensured the Broch weren’t going to let Wick add another point to their tally in this match.

Owen Cairns side-footed home from close range to open the floodgates on the 34th minute.

Paul Young drilled a low leftfooter into the bottom corner two minutes later and, by minute 39, Scott Barbour had wrapped up the points from eight yards.

Ryan Cowie put Fraserburgh four up, but Steven Anderson gave Wick a boost with two goals.

That turned the tide until the final minute when Gary Harris slotted home his side’s fifth.
