Relax and glow for it! This facial treatment is fab and refreshing
How many times have you washed your face before going to bed, only to wake up with panda eyes and stained pillows? If you’re anything like me, it’s a regular occurrence.
No matter how many balms, oils, milky lotions and foaming cleansers I use, my skin never feels or looks quite fresh enough. So, when I was offered the chance to experience a professional-grade cleanse – which promises to revert the skin to “factory settings” – I jumped at the chance to ditch the dirt.
I visited Cavendish Clinic Glasgow to try the Hydrafacial, and here’s everything you need to know.
How does it work?
The Hydrafacial is a six-step treatment that essentially extracts“gunk”from the upper epidermis to reveal luminous, glowing skin.
It’s non-invasive, and described as an “MOT or oil change for your skin”, and celeb fans include Suki Waterhouse and Abbey Clancy.
What are the steps?
Onceyou’vehadachatwith your therapist about any skin complaints (my treatment was done by Hannah, who was incredible), it’s time to sit back and relax. So far, so easy!
Once the lights have been dimmed and the soothing music turned on, the first step, lymphatic drainage, begins.
This process increases blood flow, restoring hydration and eliminating toxins while toning and firming the skin. Next, a deep cleanse gently exfoliates, while a nourishing serum containing lactic acid, glucosamine and botanical extracts is applied.
Step three is a glycolic and salicylic peel, which works to loosen debris from pores. This part is key for achieving a healthy glow!
This is then followed by my favourite part, the extraction.a nifty little handheld wand sucks blackheads and impurities from the skin. Hannah even showed me the bottle filled with the dirt from my skin and it was... gratifyingly disgusting.
Once the skin has been cleansed, Hydrafacial’s VortexFusion technology adds hyaluronic acid, antioxidants,
peptides and multipeptides to replenish the skin.
Finally, I relaxed under an LED light mask.
The results?
Absolutely incredible.after an initial purging stage (Hannah warned that might happen) my skin looked tighter, brighter and radiant.
I wouldn’t hesitate to have another treatment before a big event – or even every few months to give my skin a much-needed refresh.
