Bacuna should have seen red, not me, says Neilson

Robbie Neilson last night claimed Rangers midfielder Juninho Bacuna should have been shown the red card in his place.

Referee Don Robertson showed the Hearts manager two successive yellow cards for dissent during a sideline stramash in the 1-1 draw at Ibrox.

As a result he was banished to the back of the tunnel area and missed his side’s last-gasp equaliser, gifted to them by an Allan Mcgregor blunder at a corner kick.

“I am disappointed that I got that second yellow,” said Neilson.

“And I am more disappointed at the fourth official because the boy ( Juninho Bacuna) has grabbed Stephen Kingsley by the throat.

“That is a red card in anyone’s book so I complained about it and got a yellow.

“I complained again and got a second one.

“For me that was a stonewaller but you come to these places and you are not going to get the decisions.”

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram, who scored a terrific goal to put the Ibrox men in front, said the fact his side had not used it as a platform to go on and get three points was a massive frustration.

“It is stinging. I think we shot ourselves in the foot there at the end,” he said.

“I think we did enough to come away with the three points.

“We created enough chances to bury the game and we never.

“We have been punished for it and now I am just disappointed because I feel that we need to be winning that game.

“It was a top of the table clash, go four points clear if we win.

“It is just my opinion, some people might take the positives, of course, and there are positives to take from the game first half but I would rather play worse and win.”

His view was echoed by Light Blues boss Steve Gerrard, who had an apology for his goalkeeper.

“The game is about both boxes, you have got to take your chances,” he said.

“At 1-0 we had four/ five really top chances to go and kill that game.

“We haven’t so we have almost stitched Greegsy up because the headlines will be Allan Mcgregor should have dealt with the cross.

“But I think we stitched him up today because we should have scored the second, the third and fourth goal to kill the game before that moment comes.”
