Glow your own way: Top tips on how to moisturise magnificently

- As told to Alice Hinds

Springtime calls for soft make-up and dewy skin that glows, but after a long winter of little sunshine and drying central heating, it can be hard to bring life back to a dull complexion.

Thankfully, there’s a multiuse product already in your bathroom cabinet that can work wonders.

Here, beauty expert Natasha Suri, from natural skincare brand Herbal Essentials, shares her top hacks for upgrading your moisturiser of choice.

Drop it like it’s hot

Want to achieve a natural glow without shelling out for plane tickets? Tanning drops are the key, according to Suri.

She explained: “tanning drops can be inserted directly into your moisturiser to create a subtle bronzed look and works as a semi-permanent tinted moisturiser for everyday use.

“Blending your tan into your skincare will also save you time and allows for a gradual tan to build up.add three to four drops for a deeper tan, and one to two for a natural sun-kissed glow.

“The same as with any faux tan, ensure to prep your skin by exfoliating and cleansing, and make sure to let your skin dry completely before putting clothes on to avoid any stains.”

Highlight and go

Suri continued: “another way to give your skin a natural glow is to add a few drops of your favourite liquid highlighter directly to your moisturiser, creating a ‘glass skin’ look that will leave your skin feeling brighter and dewy throughout the whole day.”

Macro minerals

For healthy hydration, Suri advises looking for products with natural extracts.

“Himalayan super water has been clinically proven to increase hydration in the skin,” she explained. “for example, products such as the Herbal Essentials Brightening Cream (£12, herbal-essentials. com) can increase hydration by 106%, and the ingredient has been clinically proven to visibly support skin cell turnover to maintain a healthy and radiant complexion.

“The spring water has a combination of calcium, magnesium and potassium, macro minerals that play a vital role in cell renewal and supporting the skin barrier.”

Ditch any dryness

For maximum impact, Suri says to apply moisturiser to damp skin, helping to lock in hydration and active ingredients.

“When the skin is already damp, it’s hydrated and can help your product go further. However, you shouldn’t apply all of your skincare on to damp skin. Products which include heavy duty ingredients, such as retinol, could work too hard and cause irritations so be sure to check the ingredients beforehand.”
