Country unmasks tomorrow but are Scots ready for a bare-faced return?

Before mask rules are scrapped in Scotland tomorrow, BROOKE DAVIES asks shoppers in Glasgow what they think of the move.

Linda Brown, 63

I’m happy not wearing one.

I’ve had enough of it. It spoils my lipstick and catches on my earrings. I had a bad panic attack and couldn’t breathe once. I actually thought I was having a stroke because I went numb. It was awful, and since then, I get panicky. I think we’re ready to stop.

Kieran Mcguire, 22

I won’t be wearing a mask but then I’ve not worn a mask since the first two weeks of the law coming into force. I like seeing people’s smiling faces. I think we should be trying to get back to normality. I don’t understand why Scotland has been different to the rest of the UK.

Amanda Stevenson, 42

I’ll continue to wear a mask in shops and on public transport. I have had Covid twice and now I’ve be wearing one for so long I’ll be quite happy to keep on doing it, especially when I’m in a confined space like a shop or a station.

John Garner, 63

I have had all three jabs and I don’t see the threat around Covid any more. I’m glad masks are already dropped in England and Scotland should have done it at the same time. I’ll be quite happy to see the back of them and I think most people are feeling the same.

Stacey Kershaw, 49

I think I might actually stop wearing a mask in shops. We can’t wear masks forever but my patients are very vulnerable so I don’t mind wearing one at work and I think a lot of people will keep on wearing their masks in shops and on public transport.

Morgan Docherty, 26

I probably will continue to wear one because I am worried about catching Covid. I don’t want to be off work now they have stopped paying for us to be off and isolate. I’ll wear one in any building. I was happy the Scottish Government kept the requirement for as long as it did.
