HOW THEY PLAYED

(3-4-2-1)

- By Brian Fowlie

CRAIG GORDON (8)

Handling was immaculate. No chance when Cadden smacked the ball home at the second attempt. Great stops near the end.

TOBY SIBBICK (6)

Should have been more decisive in the lead-up to Hibs’ first-half goal. Allowed Stevenson to nick the ball and deliver a cross.

CRAIG HALKETT (7)

Another calm performance at the back and it was a major blow to his side when he had to leave the field on a stretcher (TAYLOR MOORE, 52, 6).

STEPHEN KINGSLEY (8)

He just keeps coming up these delicious goals with his brilliant left foot. If only Scotland were in need of a left-back! (CAMMY DEVLIN, 87, 5).

NATHANIEL ATKINSON (7)

Always on his toes and ready to charge down the wing. He’s off to a cup final only a few months after arriving at Tynecastle.

PETER HARING (7)

Organised team-mates in front of the defence and came up with some vital interceptions.

ANDY HALLIDAY (6)

An industrious shift in midfield before being forced to limp off near the break. (AARON MCENEFF 40, 6).

ALEX COCHRANE (7)

Covered a huge amount of ground and his pressing of opponents won the ball for Mckay to create the opening that Simms rifled home.

LIAM BOYCE (7)

Should have made it 3-1 to Hearts in first-half added-on time. Some nice inter-play with team-mates.

BARRIE MCKAY (8)

Showed just what a quick thinker he is with a simple, perfectly weighted pass to set up Simms for the opener.

ELLIS SIMS (7)

There were some who questioned his ability as a finished – this time he served up as sweet a strike as you’ll ever see to put the Jambos ahead.

UNUSED SUBS — Stewart (Gk), Woodburn, Mackay-steven, Ginnelly.
