HOW THEY PLAYED

(3-1-4-2)

- By Brian Fowlie

MATT MACEY 6

The Englishman is entitled to feel unlucky to have two amazing strikes fly past him in a five-minute spell.

PAUL MCGINN 6

Caught on the ball before Mckay created Hearts’ opening goal. (JOSH CAMPBELL 74, 5. Lucky to stay on after reckless challenge on Mckay).

RYAN PORTEOUS 7

Will be cursing Craig Gordon for pushing his second-half header on to the post. Typical determination got him away from opponents in the box.

PAUL HANLON 6

Organised the back-line calmly while the battle for supremacy was being lost in front of him. Booked for a rammy with Haring.

LEWIS STEVENSON 7

Showed there’s still plenty of energy in those ageing legs and fought to create the chance that Cadden stuck away. (ELIAS MELKERSEN 74, 5. Battled hard but failed with a good chance to equalise).

CHRIS CADDEN 6

Showed great composure to score and made a number of Hibs fans cancel their early getaway.

JAKE DOYLE-HAYES 6

Failed to make a major contribution.

JOE NEWELL 5

Didn’t need to slide in on Haring and picked up a second yellow card. His departure did his side no favours.

HARRY CLARKE 6

Struggled to cope with the left wingback role in the early stages. More comfortable moving into central areas.

JAMES SCOTT 6

One or two lively moments without posing a massive threat. Surprising that he wasn’t replaced earlier. (SYLVESTER JASPER 90, 5).

EWAN HENDERSON 7

Can’t be faulted for effort. Often went deep searching for the ball. Gave everything. (CHRIS MUELLER 90, 5).

UNUSED SUBS — Dabrowski (Gk), Mitchell, Kiranga, Delferriere, Doig, Allan, Hauge
