We need only absolute truth on care homes

-

I can’t seem to open a paper without Nicola Sturgeon or her government being accused of lying about something or allegedly concealing something else.

However, your story is more important than the rest because there is nothing more important than what happened in our care homes during the pandemic. We were told the residents were getting extra protection but now know they were being thrown to the wolves.

Obviously mistakes were made and hopefully the inquiry will explain them but, in the meantime, the first minister needs to make sure every single word she says about it is absolutely accurate. Anything less is just unthinkable. John Mcalpine, Dundee

Shallow Depps

I’ve read every word about the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard court case but I slow down at car crashes too. I’m not proud of it but at least I’m honest unlike the TV news who feel the need to pretend there is something terribly serious about two celebrities putting a match to it in public.

Star’s familiar

I finished The Split on iplayer and thought it was far-fetched but OK. I can’t understand why Nicola Walker is getting rave reviews though. She always seems the same to me. A bit gloomy and slightly annoyed. If I wanted that, I’d look in the mirror. Stella Milligan, Fort William

Gull crazy

Sad to read about the lost songbirds in Britain but living at the coast our seagulls who are the sound of the seaside are also suffering.

Their nesting sites are destroyed and there are no fishing boats to follow. They love bin day and we call them bin chickens. If you shout “get out of the bin” they come and tap on the window.

My niece saved a baby gull after it fell out of its nest and they became friends. Shackleton still comes back to visit her.

Pavement dangers

I don’t know how experts can say e-scooters are five times safer than bikes. The speed they go at is

ridiculous and on pavements too. If a toddler or a dog walked out, they couldn’t stop even if they wanted to.

The greatest bake-off

It wasn’t like I couldn’t get them during lockdown but it used to be a lunchtime treat at work and it didn’t seem the same when I was in the house.

Anyway, I had a steak bake out of Greggs last week on a park bench. And it was just the absolute best thing.
