Finding an email that should never have been lost is no great victory

£25 STAR LETTER

-

I see the SNP found the email that everyone was looking for about the ferries contract but I don’t know why they looked so pleased about it? They might say Derek Mckay signed it off but he was clearly looking for the nod from John Swinney.

Anyway, the Auditor General didn’t care who signed it off but why, given their own experts were saying it was risky? On top of all that, why does the Scottish Government act as if it has done something special finding this email? Should something like that not be securely stored in a filing cabinet or whatever the electronic version is? Who was it that said it’s not the crime that gets you but the cover-up?

Wagatha wasters

Having just listened to the lunchtime news I am really appalled at the contrast in behaviour of some of the young people in this country.

Firstly, you have the very brave Deborah James who is receiving hospice care at home while raising money and asking for her legacy to be continued for research into treatment for bowel cancer.

Contrast this selfless act with the so-called “Wagatha Christie” libel case which is being played out in court. Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney should be ashamed of themselves. If a tiny amount of the money they are both wasting on this case, not forgetting the extortionate lawyers’ fees, went towards cancer research, how many more lives could be saved?

Baddie so goodie

Is anyone else watching The Staircase? I usually hate dramas based on true crimes but I love it. I like Colin Firth playing a baddie (possibly) after getting used to him being a nice but boring good guy. Susan Hunter, by email

Welcome Ukrainians

It’s a great shame that Scotland has so far only taken in 3,000 refugees from Ukraine. After all, 91% of Scotland’s entire population lives in 3% of our land, so it’s not as though there isn’t plenty of room for people escaping genocide.

I would rather Scotland take in people fleeing from a genocidal tyrant than the UK system, where KGB oligarchs were given easy access to Britain because of their wealth, despite the immense security threat they presented. With so many people entering this country and working and spending here, Scotland would become one of the most thriving economies in the world and gain a worldwide reputation for humanitarianism.
