He felt faint when he

-

I GET short dizzy spells, mainly when getting up, but sometimes for no reason. Even blowing up a balloon for my daughter’s party made me feel like fainting. In the last couple of weeks I’ve been getting pains in my chest and pins and needles in my arms. I’m male, 32.

You may have low blood pressure. When you get up from resting, the blood can temporarily pool in the veins and take a little bit of time to circulate, making you feel light-headed. Simply getting up more slowly should help. I would get your chest pains checked by your doc. As for the pins and needles, you sometimes get them in the arms if you’re anxious and perhaps hyper-ventilating. I LOST my sense of taste five years ago after a stroke. Is there any medication I can take to get it back?

It sounds like the stroke has affected the nerves responsible for your tastebuds. No medication will help, I’m afraid. Sometimes the effects of a stroke can improve after a while, but after five years it’s unlikely. AFTER having a gallbladder infection treated by antibiotics and painkillers I was told I would have to have my gallbladder removed. Thing is, I now feel fine. What would happen if I refused the op, as I’d rather keep all the bits I was born with!

After an gallbladder infection, we usually do recommend removal. However, this is a personal choice and you can certainly say no. The only risk is you may be troubled with further bouts of infection causing fairly severe abdominal pain requiring further hospitalisation. I GET a tingling sensation in the area between my hip and the top of my leg. It’s like the feeling you get when your mobile goes off and vibrates in your pocket!

Sounds like a nerve irritation. It could be related to something like shingles, if you’ve had that in the past. Or it could be nerve damage if you’ve had a knock. I’VE been prescribed simvastatin, bisoprolol
