fumarate and warfarin tablets after a heart attack and my hair seems to be getting very thin. Could any or all of these tablets be to blame?

Unlikely. Our hair growth goes in cycles. There are times in our life when it grows less well and it can then thicken. Ever yone’s hair thins as we grow older, but some conditions such as anaemia and thyroid disorders can cause thinning, too, so see your doc for a check. Don’t stop taking your medication. I GET a feeling which I can only describe as like having hot fluid poured into the

inside of my right shin. Only happens on my right leg and it doesn’t feel hot to touch.

Could be a neuralgia or neuropathy, an irritation of the peripheral nerves. Get your doc to check your circulation. A neuropathy can be treated with medicines and tests can be done to see what’s causing it. MY mum says her left ear is sore as well as the right side of her face, teeth, gums and cheekbone. She can’t swallow liquids, though she can eat food.

Sometimes pains in these areas can be due to sinus infection which can be treated by a course of

antibiotics. However it doesn’t usually cause any problems with swallowing, so she should see her GP. I HAD a heart attack about 16 years ago. Last year I was put on 10mg Isosorbide Mononitrate tablets, then six months later this was increased to 20mg. However, I notice the accompanying leaflet said you shouldn’t take them if you’ve ever had a heart attack.

Isosorbide Mononitrate is is often used with heart patients, especially to treat angina. I wouldn’t recommend it immediately after a heart attack as it dilates the blood vessels and may cause low blood pressure. However, in the longer term it can improve symptoms of angina and will reduce the strain on the heart so you should be OK.
