Ferguson will draw positives from battling display

BLACKPOOL’S winless run stretched to 15 games after a dismal stalemate with Ipswich Town.

A dire match in equally dire conditions was played out at Portman Road — but it was Seasiders interim player- manager Barr y Ferguson who would have been the happier after his third draw in his first five matches.

After recovering from a fast start from the home side, Blackpool shaded the better of the chances and Ipswich were indebted to Scott Loach, who denied IPSWICH T 0 BLACKPOOL 0 Faris Haroun on three separate occasions.

A gritty game threatened to come to life when Daryl Murphy found some space after Christophe Berra’s clearance but his shot went wide of the far post.

The final chance of an ultimately disappoint­ing afternoon for Mi c k McCarthy’s men fell to top scorer David McGoldrick, but he scuffed his shot from 12 yards. MARTYN WOOLFORD’S late equaliser denied Bolton a morale-boosting win at the Den.

Bolton, who missed a second-half penalty, have now gone nine games without a League win.

The visitors struggled with the blustery conditions early on as David Wheater missed a header, but Matt Mills was on hand to clear from Lions striker Steve Morison.
