RESTAURANT REVIEW

-

1 LOCATION

Tucked away in a fairly central yet residential area of Kirkcaldy, it’s easy to reach and there’s ample parking.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

A big pub/restaurant with booths which are great for large groups and tables for smaller parties. We’re struck by how clean and bright it is.

3 SERVICE

Lovely. Our Irish waitress gets it just right – she’s attentive but not over-bearing.

4 MENU

There’s a lunch and main menu, which offers a good selection of platters, pub food and some imaginative veggie dishes including pea and asparagus risotto. We’re in the mood for cheap and cheerful, so are glad to see a deal menu which offers a couple of options. It’s more limited, but no struggle for us to choose.

5 TASTE

Two of us ordered chicken wings for starters and they’re a disappointment. We both prefer them crispy, but these are just a bit soggy and sloppy. They’re in a barbecue sauce which is OK. Our mains are better – a decent steak and Guinness pie and fish and chips with crispy fish so big it’s almost a whale, along with perfectly nice chips. It’s toffee cheesecake for dessert. We are both full but manage to polish off the lot!

6 PRICE

The deal menu is £9.95 for two courses with a soft drink or £14.95 for three courses with a glass of wine or a beer. The main menu has pretty average pub prices – ribeye steak is £13.95 and raspberry creme brulee is £5.25.

7 AMBIENCE

Friendly. There are lots of regulars in having a drink and a bite to eat and the staff have obviously taken the time to get to know them.

8 SOMETHING SPECIAL

Like your drinks? The cocktail menu is good – about £6 each – and there’s a decent selection of craft beers.

9 TOILETS

Clean and modern. The whole restaurant is spick and span.
