WHILE Brendan Rodgers attempts to thin out his Celtic squad, some of those already moved on by the Hoops are working hard to find themselves new clubs. Here CIARAN LAFFERTY, one of the players who featured in PFA Scotland’s exit camp, tells DANNY STEWART why he idolises Zlatan Ibrahimovic and what it was like facing Bayern Munich’s £28-million teen sensation Renato Sanches.

BEST MANAGER/COACH YOU PLAYED FOR?

MICHAEL O’HALLORAN SENIOR (father of Michael Junior at Rangers) who was my Celtic Under-15 and Under-16 coach.

BEST PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH?

HARD question because I played with a lot of good players. But I have to say Regan Hendry (who earlier this month signed a three-year deal with Celtic).

BEST PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED AGAINST?

RENATO SANCHES, who recently earned a bigmoney move from Benfica to Bayern Munich after becoming a first-team regular in Portugal last season.

BIGGEST TURNING POINT TO DATE?

HOPEFULLY landing a contract this summer.

BEST GOAL YOU HAVE SCORED?

SCORING the second goal against Wales in the first game of the Victory Shield. It was also an important goal.

BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE?

PLAYING for Scotland when I was 15, in the Victory Shield, as all three games were on Sky Sports. Representing my country on TV was a big achievement for me.

BIGGEST INFLUENCE TO DATE?

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC. I really like him as a player and he’s one of the best in the world. He is a good leader and I also like him off the pitch. I think his arrogance comes across in a funny way but some people may think differently.

MOST MEMORABLE MATCH PLAYED IN?

THE Glasgow Cup Final against Rangers at Celtic Park in front of 8000-10,000 fans, when I was a 16-year-old.

BEST STORY ABOUT A TEAM-MATE?

WHEN Calum Waters took Josh Kerr’s keys, drove his car out of the security gates at Lennoxtown and left it at the bottom of the hill. When Josh finally found out it hadn’t been stolen, he had to walk all the way down the hill to drive his car back up.

SECRET ABOUT YOU?

I LOVE the programme Friends. I’ve got the box set – and have watched every episode – yet when I turn on the TV, I still go straight to the Comedy Central channel to watch the re-runs.
