Moyes set for Black Cats signing spree

-

SUNDERLAND skipper John O’Shea has backed new boss David Moyes to land the signings the Black Cats desperately need.

Former Manchester United and Everton chief Moyes, appointed only eight days ago as successor to new England boss Sam Allardyce, is in a battle against the clock with the start of the Premier League season less than two weeks away.

West Ham striker Diafra Sakho and Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M’Vila, both 26, are among his targets.

Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj, 21, and striker Will Keane, 23, have also been linked with moves to the Stadium of Light.

And centre-back O’Shea, 35, insisted: “David Moyes’ record in the Premier League speaks for itself.

“We have a lot of hard work to do. It’s another new manager coming in with fresh ideas, and he wants to get those ideas across as quickly as possible.

“Hopefully, we will have some familiar faces returning to us for next season and some new faces, too.

“But the manager has fantastic experience of getting things done in the transfer market.”

But it is understood Sunderland have reservations about paying £5 million now for Frenchman M’Vila – who was on loan with them last season – when they can get him for nothing after his contract with Rubin runs out in December.

UWE ROSLER has been named head coach of Fleetwood, the League One club have announced.

Rosler signed a two-year contract to replace Steven Pressley, who resigned earlier this week.

It is the 47-year-old German’s first job since leaving Leeds in October, having previously managed Brentford and Wigan and Norwegian sides Lillestrom and Viking.

Rosler told his new club’s website: “Fleetwood is a special club with a special recent history and hopefully I can now help write a new chapter.”
