Aliens

Film4, 10.50pm, Monday After escaping the terrifying alien in the first movie, Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) had spent 57 years drifting through space in a life-pod.

She is finally rescued but is swiftly sent on a return mission, accompanie­d by a platoon of marines.

They are armed with an impressive array of firepower but Ripley isn’t convinced they know the enemy they’re dealing with.

First Wives Club

5Star, 8pm, Tuesday Hell hath no fury like Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton scorned.

They play three women who meet at a mutual friend’s funeral and discover they have the fact that they’ve all been dumped by their husbands for a younger model in common.

They join forces to hit their former partners where it hurts most – in their pockets.

Blades Of Glory

BBC1, 11.30pm, Tuesday It may be set at the Winter Olympics rather than linked to the Summer Games about to get underway in Rio, but there’s no such thing as an inappropri­ate time to watch this hilarious ice skating comedy.

Banned from singles competitio­n, rivals Chazz Michael Michaels and Jimmy MacElroy (Will Ferrell and Jon Heder) become an unlikely pairing.

The Tourist

Film4, 6.55pm, Weds After meeting the beautiful Elise CliftonWar­d (Angelina Jolie) on a train bound for Venice, American tourist Frank Tupelo (Johnny Depp) believes he has found the woman to help mend his broken heart.

But there’s much more to this seemingly flawless woman than meets the eye.

In The Electric Mist

BBC1, 12.15am, Weds (11.15pm in England) Supernatur­al thriller starring Tommy Lee Jones.

He plays a detective in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans who has a series of surreal encounters with a troop of friendly Confederat­e soldiers while investigat­ing the serial killings of local prostitute­s, a 1965 lynching and corrupt businessme­n.

We Bought A Zoo

Film4, 6.35pm, Thursday Matt Damon, at cinemas this weekend in Jason Bourne, plays journalist Benjamin Mee in this touching true story.

Following the death of his wife, Mee decides to relocate to the countrysid­e with his two children. He quickly finds the perfect home, but there’s a catch – the property comes with a run-down zoo attached.

Blood Ties

Film4, 9pm, Thursday Film4 premiere of a police drama set in 1970s New York.

Having served nine years for a gang-related murder, Chris (Clive Owen) is released from prison.

He returns to the family fold, where his cop brother Frank (Billy Crudup) reluctantl­y agrees to put him up. But can Chris avoid slipping back into his bad ways?

Public Enemies

ITV, 10.40pm, Friday Johnny Depp again, this time giving a history lesson in the Depression­era exploits of John Dillinger, a notorious bank robber noted for his good manners.

As Dillinger’s status as a Robin Hood-style folk hero grew, the FBI assigned ace agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) to bring him to justice.

Knight And Day

Film4, 9pm, Tuesday Tom Cruise plays CIA loose cannon Roy Miller, on the run with singleton June (Cameron Diaz).

Super 8

Channel 4, 9pm, Saturday Science-fiction famiily fantasy about a group of children who film a mysterious train crash. Star Wars’ J.J. Abrams directs.
