SHEET masks are the latest beauty buzzword. Unlike traditional face masks, the skin-soothing goodness is saturated in a face-shaped sheet you place on clean skin, then peel off when it’s done.

They do look slightly scary, like some kind of a postcosmetic surgery bandage, but the effects are well worth 15 minutes of weirdness!

Try The Erborian Bamboo Shot Mask, £6 each, enriched with Bamboo Water lock complex, designed to create a plumping effect (www. erborian.com); Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery Power foil Mask, £16 each or Garnier’s new Skin Active Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask, 99p each from Boots, loaded with a week’s worth of moisture.

TRIED AND TESTED Waterproof mascaras

Givenchy Noir Couture Waterproof Mascara Black Velvet, £25. Once applied, refuses to budge. Lives up to its waterproof claims - and even a swim in the sea won’t result in panda eyes. Very thick, so apply sparingly. 4/5

Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ Waterproof Mascara, £19. To get smudgefree, you usually lose in volumising and lengthening stakes. This one proved us wrong. One coat delivers thick, curved lashes of dreams. As good as it gets! 5/5

Bourjois Volume Reveal Waterproof Mascara Black, £9.99. Perfect for every day, this skinny-combed mascara catches lashes and leaves them clump-free and volumised. Living up to its waterproof tag (without being hard to remove), it’s definitely a worthwhile investment. 4/5
