The new season’s shoes

The looks for feet that you’ll want to get your hands on.

- By Ali Kirker

THERE’S nothing like a new pair of shoes for putting a spring in your step.

And the good news is that high street shops and supermarkets are full of new season looks.

From budget buys to splash-out styles, there’s something out there for everyone. Mules are still really popular and are great for day and night wear. Some of them are super high, but there are plenty of more practical styles around, too.

And, just as shops will be full of velvet clothes, expect to see velvet shoes, too.

We love the cute pumps at New Look, but higher velvets are a winner, too.

They have been inspired by costly catwalk styles that can cost a small mortgage – but our versions won’t break the bank.

Heels aren’t going anywhere, but we love the great selection of flat styles that are around, too. Sometimes there’s nothing better than a great pair of flats to get you through a busy day in comfort.

And if there’s one good thing about the approaching end of summer, surely it’s got to be all the boots that are making a comeback to the high street.

We love the bow version from Very – if you wear a lot of navy they’re a great option.

Buying black or brown is a sensible choice but when you go shoe shopping, you might find you’re tempted to become a scarlet lady or a wild woman with a touch of leopard print.

With so many great styles around, you could definitely let your inner Bet Lynch makes her way out!

And if you’ve always thought slingbacks were a bit oldfashioned, be prepared to change your mind as you’re bound to find a slingback style that you fall in love with.

They are a ’70s classic but as we’ve all said, there’s nothing new in fashion!

If the selection of styles on the opposite page doesn’t give you an appetite for shoe shopping, then nothing will.

We’re in agreement with Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe who said: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.”

Well, we couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

It’s time to put your best foot forward.
