RESTAURANT REVIEW

RED BURN FARM, HAMILTON

-

1 LOCATION

Bizarrely, in the middle of an industrial estate. We drove and there’s lots of parking on site, but it’s a bit harder to reach by public transport.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Really lovely. Clean, well-presented and welcoming – just as a big family-friendly pub should be.

3 SERVICE

Exceptionally popular on Saturdays and Sundays, which means queuing for a table. Thankfully, we arrived before the rush and were shown to a seat pretty quickly by a lovely, helpful member of staff. Aside from that, you go to the bar to place orders yourself.

4 MENU

A massive menu, featuring burgers, baguettes, steak, salads and sandwiches, not to mention old favourites such as farmhouse pies, macaroni cheese and lasagne. There’s also a carvery and an all-day breakfast every day.

5 TASTE

The carvery was delicious. Never as hot as a dish served to you at the table, though. The giant burger was indeed giant – very tasty, and the mac cheese was amazing.

6 PRICE

Mains cost between £6 and £9 – and the carvery is £6.45 on weekdays, £7.95 at weekends. You definitely get your money’s worth as the portions are very generous.

7 AMBIENCE

Very busy – and noisy! However, the huge venue has been cleverly split into adult only and family sections, so if you are sans tiny humans and fancy dining in more serene surroundings, it’s easily accommodated.

8 SOMETHING SPECIAL

The children’s play areas, complete with Playstations, are a parent’s dream. And the ice cream bar and Cakeaway are to die for. We’d recommend heading home with a monster-sized chocolate éclair for later if you have any room left!

9 TOILETS

Clean and presentable.

10 VERDICT

Welcoming, tasty, and plenty for the kids. Family-tastic! 17/20
