league 2 round-up

-

BLACKPOOL recorded their first league win since the opening day of the season as they eased to a 3-0 success at Yeovil.

Colin Daniels scored twice before Armand Gnanduillet tapped home in the closing stages to complete a memorable day for the Tangerines and a miserable one for their hosts.

The margin of victory could have been greater for Blackpool had Gnanduillet not skied a penalty over the bar after Liam Shephard had been adjudged to have pulled down Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Carlisle maintained the division’s only undefeated record, although they were held to a 1-1 draw by Accrington at Brunton Park.

Billy Kee headed Stanley in front after half-time, but Nicky Adams grabbed a share of the spoils for Carlisle with his first goal for the club.

A week after their own humbling at Grimsby, Stevenage put hapless Hartlepool to the sword, cruising to a 6-1 victory.

Yet the visitors – who have failed to beat Boro in 10 attempts – took the lead via Nathan Thomas’s tap-in.

But that was as good as it got for Pools, who saw Tom Pett, Tyler Walker (two), Dean Wells, Michael Tonge (penalty) and Matt Gooden all find the net.

Morecambe suffered their first defeat in five games with a narrow 2-1 home defeat to Leyton Orient.

The Shrimps started brightly, but went a goal down through Liam Kelly, whose long-range effort skidded off the greasy surface and bounced over keeper Barry Roche and into the net.

Morecambe equalised with a stunner from Kevin Ellison, but were behind again when Jordan Bowery’s shot took a wicked deflection to wrong-foot Roche.
