Is carrier bag move plastic fantastic?

SUPERMARKE­T Lidl has said it will stop selling single-use plastic bags at stores in Britain from next July to “discourage consumers from a throw-away mindset”. We asked our Email Jury how they’ve been getting on since the plastic bag charge was introduced.

I now use organic string bags which hold amazing amounts, fit in your pocket and can be boil washed. My magic bags! Lorraine Anderson, Edinburgh.

I think it is wrong to supply plastic bags. They are bad for the environmen­t and wildlife. But lots of people use their own bags and never wash them. The bacteria in some bags must be a health problem. James Brown, Whitburn.
