Legend Ian says Klopp is perfect fit as Anfield boss

-

“He was a genius. He could watch a game and tell you the strengths and weaknesses of every player on the pitch. He had unbelievable knowledge and was tactically very clever.

“It strikes me that Jurgen has those assets too.”

The title optimism that Klopp has revived will be tested tomorrow when his team takes on Manchester United at Anfield.

Callaghan continued: “At the start of a season, you can usually name five clubs who have a chance of winning the league.

“We nearly did it a couple of years ago under Brendan Rodgers, and it was great that Leicester came through as underdogs last season.

“But now I see Liverpool as one of the five, and that’s down to Jurgen.

“He’s been here a year this month. When you come into a new club, it takes time to change things to the way you want them.

“Considering it was his first season, to get to two cup finals was fantastic. But this season it all seems to bee coming together, and you can see bigg things happening.”

CALLAGHAN, along with former team-mates Phil Neal, Alan Kennedy and Jimmy Case, will be talking about the life and career of Bob Paisley at the Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh, on October 27.
