Fed up of never-ending referendums?

-

THE SNP will publish a draft bill for a second independence referendum next week. We asked our Email Jury what they thought of having another independence referendum, and if Brexit has influenced how they feel.

I do want another referendum, but worry this might just be too soon. I think people are fed up with politics and the state of the world. There is no real opposition to the Tories in England, so we’re being run by a party the majority of people in Scotland did not vote for. Margaret Gibb, Fife.

The Scottish Government must get on with the job they are elected to do, instead of wasting money on a referendum. I’m sick of this nonsense. Margaret Brown, Rutherglen.

A few weeks ago, I would have said no. Now, with the noises being made by the Tories regarding their handling of Brexit, I’m less certain. Ian Roxburgh, Kilmaurs.

I’m still trying to figure out the logic behind wanting to leave a four-country union and join a 28-country union. Davie Kerr, Lochaber.

The time has come for us in Scotland to govern our own country. I’m very worried about the direction Westminster is taking us, with more austerity, isolating us from Europe, and taking us into catastrophic wars. Stephen Calder, Peterhead.

If the UK Government are backtracking on the deals made by Cameron and his government then, yes, there is a need for Scotland to decide its own future, in or out of Europe. Robbie Russell, Elgin.

I certainly don’t want another referendum. We are the United Kingdom and must stay as that. Although Scottish, I live south of the Border and am not allowed a vote. John Grant, Oxford.

I am sick to the back teeth of referendums. I am perfectly happy to be free of Brussels and for us to have the power to run this country for the benefit of its people. Liz Kelly, Glasgow.

Definitely not, the first caused more problems and arguments and divided a country. The cost would be better spent on services. Irene Allison, Airdrie.

Brexit has nothing to do with it. We should govern ourselves outside the Union. Joseph Clancy, Glasgow.

There is enough turmoil in the country without more uncertainty. Andrew Clubb, Ellon.
