THE COPPERTOP, FALKIRK

-

LOCATION

Right on the main road and within driving distance of Falkirk’s biggest tourist attractions, The Kelpies and The Falkirk Wheel. The perfect pit stop after a day out.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Lovely, clean, contemporary décor – and very busy. The wall which has been transformed into a fireplace brings a really cosy feel.

SERVICE

Despite arriving without a booking at tea time on a Saturday, we were immediately shown to a table. Service throughout the meal was fast and attentive – and always with a smile. Our waitress was great with the children, making an extra effort to be patient and friendly.

MENU

From soups, salads and sandwiches to burgers, bolognese and beef steak pie, there’s plenty of variety. Basically classic pub food. You can also opt for either a full-sized plate, which gives you a very filling portion, or a smaller serving if you don’t have such a big appetite.

TASTE

We chose macaroni cheese which came out still bubbling on top and with huge wedges of garlic bread. Absolutely delicious. And the chargrilled Cajun chicken with salad and potatoes was gorgeous. It’s good, honest food. Nothing fancy, but no compromise on quality. The kids were delighted with their beef burger and sausage and beans. Simple, yet super tasty.

PRICE

At just over £40 for two adults and two children, this was an absolute steal. The kids menu is just £5.45, including dessert and a drink.

AMBIENCE

Coppertop calls itself a family restaurant, and it certainly is. It’s very relaxed and comfortable – and extremely welcoming of young children which is great.

SOMETHING SPECIAL

If you have any room left, definitely try a dessert. The knickerbocker glory and caramel sundaes are huge – and an absolute dream.

TOILETS

Pristine clean.

VERDICT

15/20 Cheap and cheerful!
