Cotillion will prove very hard to beat

- by reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

IAN WILLIAMS has Cotillion entered in today’s opening claiming hurdle at Huntingdon, on a weight that will make the 10- yearold very difficult to beat.

There is a case for saying that the son of Saddler’s Wells is better at two-and-a-half miles. But, in this grade, the shorter trip may not stop him taking the prize.

Cotillion was perhaps a little disappointing when outpointed by Smadynium in a seller at Hexham. That winner was resurgent in Donald McCain’s recent recovery.

The time before, the selection won a Class 4 handicap over 13 furlongs on the flat at Hamilton. A race that has already thrown up a winner and two seconds.

Late Night Lily is a mare in form and could well have been turning up at Huntingdon, this afternoon, looking for a four-timer in the novice hurdle.

She was a winner from For Goodness Sake, at Market Rasen, having already been successful at today’s venue from Let’s Hope So in the spring.

In between, the Midnight Legend mare was brought down, when a heavily-backed favourite at Newton Abbot and she looks the part with a 117 rating today.

In the juvenile hurdle, Jim Dandy and Hollywood Road look set to dominate the finish and preference is just for Alan King’s Jim Dandy.

Hollywood Road was slightly flattered by his second at Uttoxeter, while JimDandy’s more reliable form may just prevail for the in form flat and jumps man King.
