Brexit, polls and the return of the Vaz

-

IT looks almost certain that a General Election will be called now the High Court has ruled Parliament must have a vote on triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty and start the process of the UK leaving the European Union.

An election that will only further delay matters and cause yet more uncertainty.

The electorate who voted out won’t be happy and will seek revenge on all those who denied them their prize.

So, for those delighted Bremainers who refused to accept the result of the referendum and took the Government to court, it will be an election which will destroy Labour and the Lib Dems in England and see the Tories romp home.

There will be no celebration of peace next week in the US, that’s for sure.

A cause for reflection maybe, but certainly no Armistice and it will probably be a week to remember . . . for all the wrong reasons.

Will the President be Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton? Who can say. It’s too close to call.

One thing for sure is both are hated in equal measure and whoever wins will have a bigger battle to bring their divided nation together than they ever had with each other.

I hope, for the rest of the world, they succeed.

News the disgraced MP Keith Vaz had the help of Tory Whips to land another plum parliamentary post, laughably a justice one at that, should come as no surprise.

After all, he’s tried everything else, so a few whips are tame by his sordid standards.

Rumours that Sir Philip Green has been asked to chair a new employment and pensions committee have yet to be denied.
