Five Enid Blyton For Adults books have hit the shelves in the hope of cashing in on the success of the Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups series. Written by Bruno Vincent, they include Five On Brexit Island and Five Give Up Booze.

Saltire SUCCESS

Irvine Welsh, James Kelman and Jenni Fagan have made the 2016 Saltire Society Literary Awards shortlist. The ceremony will be held in Edinburgh later this month.

WIGTOWN WONDERS

The owner of Scotland’s largest second-hand bookshop is to publish his hilarious diaries about book-selling. Shaun Bythell, who runs The Bookshop in Wigtown, will see his work published in August.

IT’S a fair COP

An ex-policeman turned pet investigat­or with star clients such as Emma Bunton will see his book published by Viking. Tom Watkins’s The Real Pet Detective is out in April.

And THEY’RE Off…

Lucky-to-be-alive former jockey Declan Murphy will have his memoir published next spring by Transworld. Titled Centaur, it is written by debut author Ami Rao.

Pussycat’S PEN Pal

Former pop star Kimberly Wyatt has signed a three-book children’s fiction deal with Egmont. The onetime Pussycat Doll hopes to see the first book published in May.

PRIZE REPRINT

One World publisher Juliet Mabey has ordered a 120,000 reprint of Paul Beatty’s The Sellout for the UK. It comes on the back of its recent Man Booker prize win.

Handbook for WOMEN

BBC Radio 4 Today presenter Mishal Husain’s first book has been bought by 4th Estate. The nonfiction, based on Husain’s own experience­s, is tipped as “the ultimate handbook for women”.

HERE’S TO HENRY

Henry Normal, the comedy writer behind shows like The Royle Family and The Mighty Boosh, has written about life with his autistic son. A Normal Family will be published in May.

Rampling Recalls

Actress Charlotte Rampling’s first memoir will be published by Icon Books.
