RONALDO VIEIRA broke Norwich hearts for the second time in three games as his brilliant late free-kick earned Leeds a dramatic win at Carrow Road.

The man who scored the decisive penalty in the recent EFL Cup shoot-out between these two sides made a decisive contribution from the bench, just as the hosts looked to have rescued a point.

Leeds certainly edged the opening stages, but it was Norwich who took the lead in the 24th minute. Alex Pritchard’s corner was met by the head of the diminutive Robbie Brady and his effort looped over Rob Green and into the net.

Once ahead, City started to look more like a team who had topped the league last month, but Leeds went ahead in the 57th minute as another looping header – this time from defender Pontus Jansson – found the back of the net following a corner kick.

Leeds were on top from then on, and they got their noses in front after 74 minutes when substitute Hadi Sacko got the better of Martin Olsson in the lefthand corner. He found Luke Ayling in support, who cut the ball back for Chris Wood to hammer home.

Norwich brought on Lafferty with six minutes left, and the Northern Ireland international fired home a dramatic equaliser in the 88th minute.

Wes Hoolhan’s free-kick was helped on by Cameron Jerome, and an unmarked Lafferty slid the ball past a helpless Green.

But the drama wasn’t over, with Leeds grabbing the winning goal at the death after gaining a free-kick some 35 yards out. It didn’t look to be in too much of a threatening position, but Vieira had other ideas and found the bottom corner with a sensational low strike.
