ROSS County must be wondering how they never won a game they dominated for long spells, passing up a top six place in the process.

The Dingwall men created countless chances and should have been out of sight before Ali Crawford cancelled out Liam Boyce’s opener with a wonder strike.

Alex Schalk, who replaced the injured Craig Curran at the start of the second half, had the ball in the net after the break but he was offside.

The wee Dutchman also had the chance to win it in stoppage time when through on goal but Accies keeper GaryWoods pulled off a fantastic save.

Accies boss Martin Canning was delighted with the point, saying: “If I’m being honest, Ross County were probably slightly better than us, and created more.

“But I feel it is progression for us as well. It’s a game we would have lost in the past.

“The boys dug in well when it wasn’t going our way. You need to find a way to stay in the game and then it has taken a bit of magic from Ali Crawford.”

County battered Accies from the kick- off and skipper Andrew Davies was first to test Woods with a flashing header which the keeper did well to keep out.

Further efforts from Michael Gardyne, Jay McEveley, Boyce and another from Davies came and went before the deadline was broken six minutes from the break.

Curran and Gardyne linked up on the edge of the box and the latter’s chip into the box was headed back across goal and into the net by Boyce for his eighth goal of the season.

Schalk looked menacing after he came on and looked to have doubled the lead mid-way through the second half but he was flagged off- side – it looked a harsh decision.

Accies were seeing a lot more of the ball as the game opened up.

With just 13 minutes left on the clock they were given a free- kick when Boyce clipped the heels of Darian MacKinnon.

Crawford stepped up and quite br illiantly curled the ball high into the net for a sensational equaliser.

County manager Jim McIntyre rued his side’s missed chances.

He said: “I thought we played really well. But in the final third, the last pass and shot on goal was missing.

“I thought the performance was as strong as it was against St Johnstone last week but we just didn’t punish the opposition when we got into some great areas – we miss some gilt- edged chances.

“We have got to do better.”
