How the Gers played

- By Brian Fowlie sport@sundaypost.com

WES FODERINGHAM 7

PRODUCED a series of fine saves but could barely have seen Dembele’s shot. Sensibly kicked the ball long more often to avoid unnecessary risks at the back.

ROB KIERNAN 6

DIDN’T show any nerves after his gaffe against St Johnstone. Solid enough but a question mark about not picking up Sinclair for Celtic’s second goal.

CLINT HILL 7

DID a fine job as the main organiser in Rangers’s defence and doubled-up as the main cheerleader by encouraging the fans to increase the volume of their backing.

DANNY WILSON 6

STUCK to his defensive duties but distribution was wayward at times.

JAMES TAVERNIER 6

PLENTY of his trademark lung-bursting runs and whipped crosses. As so often, could have done better defensively.

ANDY HALLIDAY 6

DID his best to protect his defence but struggled with the pace of Celtic’s movement. Created a superb chance for Miller with 10 minutes left.

JASON HOLT 7

DID the dirty work you don’t often associated with the former Hearts man. Always battling to close down opponents. (Replaced after 82 mins by HARRY FORRESTER, 6)

BARRIE McKAY 7

STARTED really brightly and caused Celtic problems with his pace. Seemed to dip in confidence when the opposition began to dominate.

JOSH WINDASS 6

SOME decent forward balls, including a defence-splitting pass for Miller’s goal. Caught in possession now and again. (Replaced after 65 mins by JOE DODOO, 6)

KENNY MILLER 8

CAPTAINED the Light Blues in the absence of Lee Wallace and again made a mockery of his age. The sprightliest 37-year-old in the game scored again and really should have had a second.

JOE GARNER 6

STARTED well but injured in the run-up to the opening goal. (Replaced after 16 mins by MARTYN WAGHORN, 6, who battled away without any joy)

Unused subs – Gilks (Gk), Crooks, O’Halloran, Hodson.
