NAHKI WELLS

-

curled home a brilliant free-kick in the fourth minute of stoppage time to rescue Huddersfield a deserved point.

It had looked like Rovers would claim a smash-andgrab victory following Danny Graham’s late goal, but Town, on the back of four successive wins, refused to give in, and they levelled deep into stoppage time through Wells.

The home side dominated the first half and, with Blackburn notorious slow starters, almost took the lead inside the first minute. However, Rovers’ Jason Steele pulled off a great double save, blocking Rajiv van La Parra’s effort, before turning away an overheadkick from Kasey Palmer.

Blackburn had just one chance in the first half when Sam Gallagher broke away and ran at the Town defence.

The defenders backed off and Gallagher squared for Graham, but the striker couldn’t quite make contact with the ball.

The home side weren’t as dominant in the second half, and Rovers made them battle all the way.

Huddersfield brought on strikers Harry Bunn and Jack Payne for Van La Parra and Palmer in a bid to break down Blackburn’s resistance.

There were fewer chances and too often the final pass was lacking for Town.

Tommy Smith dragged a shot wide, before Rovers snatched a goal against the run of play. Liam Feeney was sent clear on the right, and the midfielder crossed deep for Graham to expertly head home at the far post in the 81st minute.

Huddersfield weren’t done, however, and they equalised after Elliott Bennett fouled Payne on the edge of the box.

From a central position, Wells bent the ball around the wall and left Steele with no chance.
