PARTICK THISTLE 0 KILMARNOCK 0

-

ALAN Archibald felt his Partick Thistle players should have had this game won by half-time but they weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.

The Jags boss was pleased with the overall display and this result has given them seven points from their past three fixtures which has lifted them well clear of bottom spot in the league, a place they occupied just two weeks ago.

Archibald said: “We started really well and had plenty of the ball in their half. But we needed to show more penetration and work their goalie more.”

It was a shock when the half-time whistle blew and the score was 0-0. Archibald’s men dominated possession and played some lovely football.

They defied the blustery conditions and the way they passed the ball about was a pleasure to watch.

Doolan had the ball in the back of the net in the 2nd minute but it was ruled out for offside.

The Rugby Park keeper had a busy first period and also made stops to deny Erskine and Lawless. Doolan was denied again in the 59th minute when he scored. However, once again, it was ruled out for offside. The game then turned. Killie almost took a surprise lead in the 66th minute when Soulemayne Coulibaly’s cross bounced inside the six yard box and the home team hesitated. Florent Bojaj nipped in but his effort was just a yard over the crossbar.

That move triggered a bit of activity in the home team’s half.

The final save of the game came from Cerny when he flew to his left to palm away a piledriver from Stevie Smith.

It was mind-boggling this game finished goalless.
