MY WEEK

-

DAVIE got two laptops for Christmas. If that seems a little excessive, you should know the first one, a gift from his wife, was stolen only days after it arrived.

He mentioned it on Facebook, saying that no one could steal the love with which it was given or the pleasure with which it was received.

A friend, deciding that selfishness should never beat love, started a fundraising page and Davie’s replacement laptop arrived the day before Christmas.

“Two computers, a gift from my wife, unexpected help from a whole bunch of good hearts... how does that compare against one selfish theft?” Davie asked. It wins convincingly, Davie. Love will always win, over everything. We just need to remember that – and make sure it keeps happening! MARGARET received a bouquet of flowers from her son who lives some distance away. Delighted, she posted a photo of it on Facebook. He loved seeing it there, but so did someone else. The next day someone she hardly knew copied the photo to her page.

Margaret was indignant, got in touch with the woman and there was a row. Afterwards she looked down the other woman’s page and saw no personal comments, very few friends and no family. The next day an apology arrived. The woman said she loved flowers, but didn’t have anyone to send her any, so she borrowed Margaret’s to brighten her day.

With a heart softened by what she now knew, Margaret asked the other women for her address and she passed it on to me. Another bouquet is now on its way to an appreciative home.
