BOYS CLUB’S OLD BOYS CLUB

JOHN RANKIN’S move to Queen of the South ended a 23-year wait to be reunited with former playing pals.

One-time Manchester United kid Rankin left Falkirk for the Doonhamers, where he has teamed up with Stephen Dobbie and Andy Dowie.

Rankin (below) revealed: “I played with Stephen and Andy when we were 10 years old, and at the same boys club.

“It’s good to be playing together again nearly a quarter of a century on.”

GALABANKIE­S’ BANKER

ANNAN ATHLETIC manager Jim Chapman has brought Peter Weatherson back to Galabank as player/coach.

The 36-year-old former Queen of the South and Morton star was co-manager of Shettlesto­n Juniors alongside Ryan McStay, but that ended last weekend due to budget issues.

SPIDERS WEAVE THEIR WEB

QUEEN’S PARK’S 150 years will be honoured this summer with a civic reception at Glasgow City Chambers on Friday, July 7.

The Spiders are also organising an exhibition and social event at the site of the original Hampden Park, as well as holding a Festival of Football involving former players and community groups.

The Scottish Football Museum will host an exhibition from June for six months, with a gala dinner to mark Scotland’s oldest club planned for November.

ST MIRREN will add former Carlisle and Annan attacker Josh Todd as soon as the 22-year-old’s amateur contract with Dumbarton ends this month.

ALLOA striker Isaac Layne has returned to England after two years with the Wasps.

Ryman League Premier Division club Billericay Town have secured the services of the 21-year-old.
