Granny really does know best

-

JORDAN BAIN has done well to recover from a difficult start to life. He has risen from that tough start to make a real success of himself.

He has proved that it doesn’t matter where you start, it’s what you do and where you get to that counts.

The real motivator in the background of the story, however, is his granny.

Janet Bain took decisive action when it was most needed. She saved Jordan from a home where heroin addiction was the most pressing concern, not child care.

To do that, though, she had to remove Jordan from his mother, Janet’s daughter.

It is often very difficult to do the right thing, when it comes to your own family.

Janet is an example of a woman with old-fashioned common sense. Her values of hard work and decency have obviously passed on to her grandson.

Her quiet and dignified determination to do the right thing probably won’t ever be rewarded by medals or fame.

But Jordan knows what he owes his granny, and The Sunday Post joins him in applauding a kind, decent, hard-working example of all that is right and good among ordinary folk.

Janet Bain, your grandson is a credit to you. Your huge pride in him is a measure of your own unselfish character. We salute you as a Scottish hero.
