LEADERS Doncaster stay four points clear following a 2-0 win against Cheltenham. Andy Butler converted Matty Blair’s quickly-taken free-kick to open the scoring and, after Robins defender Will Boyle was sent off with 19 minutes left, John Marquis kept his cool to score a second from an Alfie May pass.

Leyton Orient are six adrift of the safety zone after they slipped to a 3-0 defeat at home to Grimsby.

The Mariners took a seventh-minute lead when Danny Andrew’s cross was headed home by Sam Jones and scored a second in the 71st minute when a Jones shot deflected in off O’s defender Callum Kennedy. Scott Vernon wrapped up the points late on.

Notts County moved above opponents Hartlepool with a 2-1 win at Meadow Lane. Shola Ameobi opened the scoring for the Magpies seconds after the restart, sliding the ball home from Jorge Grant’s through pass.

Grant added a thumping second with 20 minutes remaining, and a Haydn Hollis own goal proved mere consolation for Hartlepool.

Second-placed Plymouth kept up the pressure with a 2-0 win at Mansfield. Sonny Bradley got the final touch to Graham Carey’s free-kick to break the deadlock in the 69th minute, and Carey doubled Argyle’s advantage with a stunning 30-yard free-kick.

Medy Elito’s hat-trick – which included two penalties – earned Cambridge a 3-0 win at stumbling Carlisle, while goals from Shay McCartan and Matty Pearson secured Accrington a 2-0 win at Exeter.

Substitute Matt Butcher had only been on the pitch seconds when he unleashed a dipping 25-yard volley to set Yeovil on their way to a 3-1 win at Morecambe.

Elsewhere, Wycombe drew 0-0 at home to Blackpool, for whom Brad Potts missed a late penalty.
