Morecambe student Owen is home and ‘doing fine’

-

A STUDENT who became the face of the Westminster terror attack after images of his bandaged head were beamed around the world is recovering at home with his family.

Owen Lambert was treated at the scene for a head wound sustained when a car mowed down innocent pedestrians in the shadow of Big Ben.

The 18-year-old from Morecambe, Lancashire, who is studying at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk escaped with a cut that required stitches.

Fellow Edge Hill student Travis Frain, 19, from Darwen, Lancashire, was more seriously injured in the attack and required surgery. He suffered fractures to his leg and left arm, as well as a cracked rib, two broken fingers and a cut to his thigh.

Both students had just left Parliament after watching Prime Minister’s Questions when the car careered along the pavement.

Owen, whose father Greg is a local newspaper journalist, is recovering from his ordeal at the family’s home in Morecambe.

His dad said the family had travelled to London to bring him home. He added: “He is doing fine but is not up to speaking about what happened yet.”

Owen and other students caught up in the terror attack are being offered counselling.

Travis Frain’s mum Angela, a teacher in Darwen, said he could remember nothing about the attack.

She said: “I know he’s extremely lucky and it could have been a lot worse.”
