DRIVEN daft at the number of fatal collisions involving the elderly, Japanese authorities have tried to put the brakes on the over-75s by offering incentives to encourage them to hand their licences in.

Cut-price noodles and cheap taxi rides have been introduced, but most have reached a dead end and indeed the deaf ears of their 4.5 million OAP racers.

The pits, though, has to be the 15% discount being offered on funeral services.
