Bridge drivers to start slow
BRIDGE bosses will set a low temporary speed limit on the new crossing when it opens to help prevent accidents among distracted drivers.
Project director David Climie is worried motorists using the Queensferry Crossing for the first time will be too busy marvelling at the structure to concentrate on the road.
He is in talks about possibly opening the bridge with a 50mph speed limit instead of the planned 70mph until the initial fuss dies down. Unlike the Forth Road Bridge, the Queensferry Crossing will have motorway status.
