BOLTON boosted their promotion push with a 2-0 victory at Shrewsbury.

Second-half goals from Mark Beevers and Adam le Fondre wrapped up a fifth straight win for Phil Parkinson’s in-form side.

Wanderers, confidence high given their current run, started brightly. David Wheater saw a shot deflected over the bar and then skipper Darren Pratley’s 25-yard drive was straight at keeper Jayson Leutwiler.

But Town almost took the lead when Louis Dodds’ shot was clawed away by Bolton goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.

Bolton took the lead in the 51st minute as a long throw from Filipe Morais saw Beevers nip in ahead of Leutwiler to head home from 12 yards.

Alnwick saved from Freddie Ladapo and Roberts either side of second-placed Bolton’s breakthrough, before the visitors doubled their lead in the 66th minute. Morais broke down the right and picked out le Fondre who controlled and smashed home a shot from close range.

Fleetwood dropped another two points in the race for promotion as they drew 0-0 at Bury.

Although Kyle Dempsey hit a post for Fleetwood, they now trail second-placed Bolton by six points.

Bobby Grant hit a firsthalf shot straight at home keeper Joe Murphy, before Dempsey fired against the inside of a Bury post from just outside the box.

James Vaughan headed over a Jermaine Pennant free-kick after the break.

The hosts went closest to winning it as Hallam Hope dragged a shot wide and Greg Leigh fired straight at Alex Cairns.

Sheffield United saw their lead at the top cut to four points as they could only draw 1-1 at Oldham, while bottom side Coventry earned a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers.
