QUEEN OF THE SOUTH boss Gary Naysmith reckons joining the Championship side has given Celtic youngster Joe Thomson and Motherwell winger Dom Thomas (below) the platform to secure international honours.

The duo have received their first Scotland Under-21 call-ups for Tuesday’s friendly against Estonia at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.

Naysmith, who was capped 46 times for the national side, said: “Joe and Dom have become big players in our team since joining in January.

“We put a lot of responsibility on them, which is sometimes unfair as it is their first full season of playing regularly at this level.

“Joe has stepped up a level since his loan spell at Dumbarton and Dom has started 10 games-in-a-row, something he hadn’t done before.

“I am delighted that they have used the opportunity here to get recognised by Scotland.”
