NOW women make up 47% of the UK workforce, partly because changes in the State Pension age means fewer are retiring between 60 and 65. Women are now 35% more likely than men to go to university and 57% of those getting first class university degrees are women – but the pay gap between men and women was still as high as 34% according to a survey at the end of last year.
