Sarries will need to be flexible to see off Warriors

-

MARK McCALL believes Saracens will need to be “adaptable and flexible” when they face European Champions Cup quarter-final opponents Glasgow today.

The Champions Cup holders are bidding to book a fifth successive semi-final appearance, and they will go into battle at Allianz Park as favourites.

But Glasgow showed their quality in the competition’s pool stage, qualifying from a group that also featured Munster, Leicester and Racing 92.

And Saracens rugby director McCall fully understands the danger they could pose to his team this weekend.

“Against Glasgow, you have to be adaptable and flexible in the game,” McCall said.

“They are definitely going to throw some things our way that we haven’t seen before, so we need to be alive to those things.

“We happen to be playing against a team that was probably the best in the pool stage.

“They are a good side, and a lot of their players will have gained confidence from the way they played for Scotland in the Six Nations.”

Saracens are unchanged from the team that crushed Aviva Premiership opponents Bath 53-10 last weekend – Bath’s heaviest league defeat for 15 years.

Glasgow coach Gregor Townsend added: “We know what a good team Saracens are, but we believe we can win.

“Saracens have the right to be huge favourites. They’ve got a home game, have been European quarter-finalists a lot more than we have, and have won a lot more than we have.

“We know the challenge that faces us. This is as close to Test match level as you will get.”
