1 LOCATION

Situated in the heart of Glasgow’s West End, close to major bus routes and just a hop, skip and jump away from Partick train and subway stations.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

A friendly waiter greets us and shows us to a cosy table, next to a wall covered in a smorgasbord of paintings and fairly lights. It’s cosy, but not cramped. Fresh flowers on the table are a nice touch.

3 SERVICE

Even on a pretty busy service, the staff are attentive and cater for our every whim. Food comes to the table piping hot and promptly, but not so fast we feel rushed between courses. It’s pretty relaxed. They are especially warm to small children.

4 MENU

The nice thing about this restaurant is the menu changes frequently so there’s always something different to try. Dishes are mostly Scottish-based with a hint of French and Continental influence.

5 TASTE

The food is simple, but delicious. The roast lamb is cooked to perfection melting in the mouth and the meat inside the steaming hot homemade steak pie is sublime. Desserts are good too. We’d recommend the chocolate brownie sundae or the white chocolate and raspberry brioche.

6 PRICE

Very reasonable. Around £5/£6 for a starter from the a la carte menu and £15 for a main. The market menu, at £15 for two courses, is a steal.

7 AMBIENCE

It’s Sunday lunchtime and it’s pretty lively. Busy, but not too loud. There’s a buzz about the place.

8 SOMETHING SPECIAL

Every Sunday there’s a traditional roast on the menu, from chicken and beef to pork belly. It comes with all the trimmings. Brunch is also a real treat The eggs Benedict come highly rated.

9 TOILETS

Cleverly disguised as a bookcase, once you find them they’re spacious – and pristine clean.

10 VERDICT

With a prime location and such great food it’s easy to see why this venue is so popular. We’ll definitely be back. 16/20
