Deacon hits helped Aled beat blues

-

ALED JONES has revealed how Scottish band Deacon Blue’s Raintown album helped him after his voice broke.

The Welsh singer shot to fame in 1985 when his version of Walking in the Air from the animated film The Snowman became a hit.

His career stalled when his voice broke aged 16, but he said the album helped him cope. He said: “I know every word of every song on that album because it took me away from real life.

“When I was 16 I stopped singing as a boy soprano so there was a lot of uncertainty in my life as to what would happen in the future.

“This just made me feel great about life and myself.”
