Pitch invasion delays match

-

ORIENT’S match with Colchester was delayed for nearly two hours after fans occupied the pitch in protest at Orient’s owner, Francesco Becchetti.

Despite requests to clear the pitch, there wasn’t sufficient movement to allow the game to restart.

A decision was taken with the police to announce that the game had been abandoned.

The fixture was concluded behind closed doors at approximately 6.40pm, with Orient eventually losing 1-3.

Hartlepool are on the brink of relegation after Danny Wright’s 18th-minute goal sunk them in a 1-0 defeat at Cheltenham, who secured their own safety in the process.

Harry Pell’s cross was headed into the net by Wright from six yards to give the hosts the initiative.

Scott Brown touched a header from Lewis Hawkins over the bar a minute later as Pools responded, before the keeper blocked Padraig Amond’s effort.

Hartlepool could not find a way through and it will be either them or Newport who join Orient in the National League next season.

Second-half goals from Jabo Ibehre and Nicky Adams fired Carlisle back into the play-off picture as a 2-1 win over Newport left the Welshmen facing a last-day battle to preserve their status.

A last-gasp goal from Adebayo Akinfenwa gave Wycombe a vital point in their quest for a play-off spot as they denied Morecambe a win in a 1-1 draw after Kevin Ellison scored a superb opener.

Blackpool lost 1-0 at Notts County, with Richard Duffy scoring.
